WELLINGTON & BELLEVILLE ROTARY CLUB BURSARIES – 2026
Some stories begin with a message, and this one arrived last month from Liz Bosma-Donovan of the Wellington Rotary Club. Stepping into her new role with the Rotary Indigenous Peoples Partnerships Cluster Committee (IPPC), Liz continues a tradition rooted in care, connection, and opportunity, one that supports Indigenous students pursuing their education across many universities.
While these Rotary bursaries reach students far and wide, we were especially fortunate here in Thunder Bay to celebrate three outstanding recipients from Lakehead University. On behalf of the Wellington and Belleville Rotary Clubs, and the IPPC committee, Lakehead Rotary was honoured to present these bursaries in person, a small moment carrying a much larger meaning. This partnership has grown over the years, built on shared purpose. It has even come full circle before, as past recipient Clifford Mushquash later became a Rotary Club President, reminding us that support today can shape leadership tomorrow.
This year’s Lakehead University recipients are:
- Andrea Oltsher, Master of Nursing
- Arianna Majigmesegabow, Honours BA in Political Science (Pre-Law)
- Tristen Brown, PhD in Civil Engineering
To each of you, congratulations. Your hard work and dedication have brought you here, and your journeys ahead hold great promise. Rotary is proud to stand beside you, not just in this moment, but as part of a larger community that believes in your potential. While these bursaries span many institutions, we are grateful to have shared in celebrating these three remarkable students right here in Thunder Bay.
