Sometimes the greatest gifts aren't wrapped. Sometimes they arrive as an opportunity.
This morning, we had the pleasure of welcoming Hector Dougall as the guest speaker at our Rotary meeting. Along with sharing his thoughts, he brought something incredibly meaningful: the opportunity to tell our story.
Thanks to a generous donation of television advertising next summer, our Club will have the chance to introduce our community to who we are, why we serve, the causes we're passionate about, and the friendships and purpose that Rotary brings into our lives.
What makes this opportunity even more meaningful is where it came from. For generations, Dougall Media has been part of the fabric of Thunder Bay. As a locally owned family business, they've done far more than share the stories of our community. They've consistently found ways to give back to it, supporting local organizations, events, and initiatives that make Northwestern Ontario stronger. This opportunity is another example of that commitment.
We're equally grateful to our friends at the Port Arthur Rotary Club, who have experienced the value of sharing Rotary's story through a similar partnership and has encouraged Lakehead Rotary to do the same. It's a wonderful example of Rotarians supporting Rotarians, and we're thankful for their encouragement.
And finally, a special thank you to Hector. Thank you for sharing your ideas, your perspective, and your encouragement this morning. More importantly, thank you for believing that our Club has a story worth telling. It's clear that giving back to the community isn't just something you do. It's part of who you are, and it reflects the very spirit of Rotary.
