November: Celebrating Rotary Foundation Month

As members of the Lakehead Rotary Club here in Thunder Bay, we’re proud to take this month to celebrate the incredible impact of The Rotary Foundation — and to reflect on the difference our Club continues to make in our own community.  Rotary Foundation Month reminds us why we do what we do: to create lasting change, both close to home and around the world. Over the past year, our Lakehead Rotary Club has worked together to serve our neighbours, strengthen community spirit, and support those in need.

Here in Thunder Bay, we’ve:
  • Volunteered regularly at the Rotary Shelter House, preparing and serving meals to community members in need.
  • Supported local traditions like the Thunder Bay Santa Claus Parade, helping to bring joy and connection to families across the city.
  • Promoted environmental stewardship through local clean-ups and seed-planting initiatives along the waterfront.
  • Contributed to global causes through the Rotary Foundation, helping fund education, health, and peace-building projects beyond our borders.
These efforts reflect the very best of what it means to be a Rotarian — living the motto of Service Above Self.

"This November, as we celebrate The Rotary Foundation, I’m filled with gratitude for the dedication of our members and the impact we’ve made together. The Lakehead Rotary Club continues to be a source of service, fellowship, and pride in Thunder Bay — and I couldn’t be prouder to be part of it."  Kyla Jarvinen, Rotarian
