Local Rotary Clubs Supporting Native Species Restoration
Yesterday, members of TBayREACT joined the Lakehead Regional Conservation Authority (LRCA) at Fisherman’s Park West to celebrate an environmental project that reflects Rotary’s commitment to sustainability and community impact.
Through District 5580, Port Arthur Rotary, Fort William Rotary, and Lakehead Rotary each contributed to support the purchase of native species seeds. These seeds were planted along the waterways of Lake Superior earlier this year to help regenerate natural growth and protect biodiversity.
In the photo taken during our visit, you can see the results of that spring planting already taking root in the background—a reminder of the positive difference collaboration can make.
This initiative matters because restoring native plants strengthens ecosystems, improves water quality, and preserves the natural beauty that defines Northwestern Ontario. By working together, our local Rotary clubs and LRCA are ensuring healthier habitats today and for generations to come.
