This morning, Audrey took her place behind the gavel as President of Lakehead Rotary for the final time.

For the past year, she has led our club with thoughtfulness, kindness, and a genuine commitment to service. While the role of a Rotary Club President includes guiding meetings, supporting committees, setting goals, fostering member engagement, and helping ensure the club continues to make a positive impact in the community, Audrey brought something even more important to the position: heart.

She understood that leadership is not about standing at the front of the room. It is about bringing people together, encouraging new ideas, listening carefully, and helping others find ways to make a difference. Throughout her presidency, Audrey helped create an environment where members felt welcomed, valued, and inspired to serve.  Her passion for the environment was evident throughout the year. Whether discussing sustainability, supporting environmental initiatives, or encouraging thoughtful stewardship of the world around us, Audrey consistently reminded us that service extends beyond today and into the future we leave for generations to come.

Like every Rotary President, Audrey carried responsibilities both visible and unseen. What many did not see were the hours spent preparing, planning, communicating, solving problems, and supporting members behind the scenes. Her dedication helped strengthen our club and position it for continued success.

While this morning marked Audrey's final meeting as President, it won't be our final opportunity to celebrate her. Members and guests will gather at the President's BBQ on June 25 to recognize and thank Audrey for her year of service and the lasting impact she has made on Lakehead Rotary.  Thank you, Audrey, for leading with purpose, serving with heart, and reminding us that the strongest leaders are often those who quietly help others shine. Your contributions have made a difference, and your influence will continue to be felt long after the gavel is passed.
