Welcome to all Members
 
President Clifford Mushquash opened the meeting on September 19, 2019 and welcomed 17 members to the meeting. Clifford also welcomed 2 visiting Rotarians from the Fort William Club - president elect Cynthia Judge and Irene Sottie. They are attending the meeting to talk about the International Peace Day this Saturday September 21, 2019 at Marina Park.
 
Paul offered an opening prayer for the meeting.
 
Cynthia Judge and Irene Sottie briefly spoke about the invitation to members to attend the upcoming Peace Day celebration at Marina Park.
 
Club Reflections
 
Don Morrison spoke about the success of the Terry Fox run. He indicated approximately 378 people participated and they fund raised about $13,000 last Sunday.
 
Don McDonald  accepted the role of International Service Director on the Board.
 
There is still a vacancy in the Club Service Director position and 2 volunteers are needed for club work.
 
Clifford spoke about the upcoming essay writing for students on the Four Way Test. Volunteers are needed to grade the essays.
 
Graham noted that a fund for donations is available through the Rotary Foundation re: relief the Bahamas. On the website indicate in the comment section that your donation is for the Bahama relief fund.
 
Georgina provided an update on the Foundation funding. She noted to date we have raised $1680 of the $2800 for the foundation fund and have reached 81% of our goal for the Polio Fund. Club members are encouraged to continue to donate so that we reach our goal for the Polio Fund by October 24, 2019. We still need an additional $300.
 
Shirley (sponsor) spoke about Glutathione and MAX international products. Shirley provided handouts to the club members and spoke about Riboscene in the body and the science behind Glutathione use particularly its optimization of cellular function. She also spoke about MAX 3,5,7 Omega product. For more information reach out to Shirley directly.
 
Clifford let members know that the session would focus on a discussion of the Shrimp Festival. Allan Kozlo led this discussion.
 
 Member Discussion
 
Allan Kozlo spoke about the Shrimp Festival fundraising event. He provided a summary of the notes from the brainstorming session.
  • The event production schedule was shared with the group
  • 100 minimum participants are needed to achieve the target fundraising opportunity.
  • Maybe hosting a Cajun night in the future would be a good twist on the event.
  • The goal is to keep the price at $60.
  • More committee members are needed to help out with the event planning.
  • Sponsors are a consideration
  • Other options for venue was discussed.
  • Allan provided a financial breakdown of the event since inception
  • Hard copies of the information was distributed to members.

Closing Remarks
 
Clifford offered closing remarks and thanked Allan for his presentation! The meeting adjourned at 8:35 A.M.
